06-Creating a Paid Subscription

Next up you will set up the subscriptions for the publisher's app:

Login to App Store Connect > click on My Apps > and then App icon

In the next screen, click on App Information under General in the left-sidebar menu.

In the next screen, click on the App-Specific Shared Secret Manage link:

In the pop-up that appears, click on the Generate App-Specific Shared Secret link.

A new shared secret will appear. Copy it and keep it handy.

Go back to MagCast, click on Setup menu and select Subscriptions.

Once open, under Phase 2 - Your App Shared Secret & Details click on the App Shared Secret Setup Steps toggle.

Under Step 2: Paste Shared Secret Here, paste in the Shared Secret you copied from the App Store Connect account.

And then click on Submit to save changes.

Next, go back to the Subscriptions section of App Store Connect.

Click on the Blue Plus button to create a Subscription Group:

Once you've created the Subscription Group, you can create the subscriptions, starting with the longest period (eg. 1-Year).

In the next screen, enter the name of your Subscription e.g. 1-Year Subscription

And your Subscription’s Product ID

The SubscriptionProduct ID is sourced from the Subscription section of MagCast (Setup menu).

Simply click the Enable Subscription Steps toggle under the Phase 3: Enable Subscription Plans & Details section.

Once open, check the Subscription Plan to enable it.

Add the Subscription name in the Subscription Label Field and copy the Product ID.

And then click on Submit at the bottom of the page to save changes.

Next, go back to App Store Connect and fill in the Subscription name in the Reference Name field and copy in the Product ID you copied from MagCast.

Once done, Click Next

In the next screen, complete the following Subscription Settings.

Select your subscription Duration.

Click on "+" Icon next to Subscription Prices

Select a Currency type for your App

Select PriceTier

Click on Next

Your selection will process for a few minutes.

In the next screen, click on Create

Then click on OK

Once the pop-up closes, click on Save in the top-right corner of the page and then click on the grey duration at the top-left to go back to the main Subscription settings.

Back in the main settings, scroll down to App Store Information.
Next to Localisations click on the ‘+’ plus icon and select the main Language for your app.

In the next screen:

Add the Subscriptions Name

Add a short description for the subscription.

Next, scroll down to the Review Information section.
NOTE: This section is used by the Apple Reviewer only.

You will need to upload a 768×1024 PNG image (for example your first Magazine cover)

Select your image and click Open

Wait till image has uploaded and is visible.

Click on Save in the top-right corner of the page.

Click on your Subscription Groups in the left-sidebar menu.

Click on the Subscription Group you created in the earlier steps.

Once open, scroll down to Localisation section, click on the ‘+’ plus icon and select the main language for the Subscription Group

In the next screen, complete the settings fields.

Once Saved, you can view your new subscription by clicking on the Subscriptions section in the left-sidebar menu.

It’s status should show Ready to submit in In App Purchases section.

IMPORTANT: NEVER delete a Subscription or In-App Purchase. You always click on it and edit the information. If you delete it, Apple will NOT let you select the same Product id as shown above. If you do not use the same Product ID, the subscription will not work.
