How To Test Your Issues

The MC Publishers Preview app creates a simulated environment for you to test how your readers will experience your issue content in the live app. The issue that you setup in the MagCast dashboard will be used for both your iOS and Android apps.

This means you only need the one Preview app to test your issue for both apps.  To get started simply follow these steps:

Download MC Publisher’s Preview App here.

Once downloaded, login with with your MagCast login email and password - and SAVE them, so you won't need to type them in again.

Go back to MagCast.

NB! Ensure that the Edit Issue Settings section of your issue has been completed.

To access this section, click on your issue cover and from the issue menu select Edit Settings.

If not completed, simply follow these steps.

Once in place, you will now be able to publish your issue to the Preview app for testing.

To do this, click on your Issue Cover again.

Select Test Mag

Your issue will begin to upload to the Preview App.

Go back to the Preview App

In the Preview App dashboard, tap your Magazine App name to open your app.

In the next screen you’ll see a preview of the homescreen of your app. This is where all your magazine issues will appear. To test your first issue, tap on the “i” icon in the bottom-right corner of your Issue Cover.

Then tap on Download

Your issue will begin to download to the Preview app.

Once complete, tap on View to open and begin testing your issue.

If you pick up any errors in your issue, it is easy to make changes.

Go back to the MagCast platform

Click on your issue cover

Select either Edit Native Version or Edit PDF Version (depending on which version needs the update).

Make the necessary changes to your issue.

TIP! Click on Save after each adjustment, to prevent loss of changes.

If you want to check if the updates are correct, simply repeat steps 2-4 to republish your issue to the Preview App.

If you have published your issue to Test in MagCast, deleted the previously downloaded issue in the Preview App and still cannot see your published issue, then this can be a result of the issue being remembered in the Cache of the Preview App itself.

You will need to delete and then download the Preview App again, which can be done by following these steps.

1. Tap and Hold the Preview App Icon on your device.

2. When the X appears, simply tap the X and the App will be deleted.

3. Download Preview App by clicking on the link provided at the top of this page.

Once the Publishers Preview App has been downloaded and opened, you will need to login again, download the issue and then you will be able to view and test it.
