HOW IT WORKS
When your prospective reader taps your link or scans the QR Code, the link will:
- Determine the type of device they're on.
- Send them to the appropriate Store to download your App.
- If they're not on a mobile device send them to a web page
reminding them to use the link on a mobile device.
- Activate the content you've designated for them in the OTAI
Settings section, when they open the App.
To see an OTAI link in action, scan this QR Code with your iPad/tablet or iPhone/smartphone to unlock a 3-month Subscription to Wildlife Photographic Magazine:
SETTING UP YOUR OTAI LINK
The set up process is quite simple and you'll have your links ready for use after completing a few basic fields. Let's get started!
STEP ONE
Login to your
MagCast Dashboard.
Open your
Marketing Tools menu and then select
One Tap App Install links.
A settings pop-up will appear with a list of fields for you to configure.
STEP TWO
Let's configure your link...
Unique Link Code (Optional)
If you leave this field blank, our system will auto-generate a unique code for your OTAI link.
However, you can create a custom code that is relevant to the purpose of the link. For example, you are giving a certain reader special access to your app. You can use that person's name as the unique code - JohnSmith.
Or you are running a special promotion and want the link relevant to that promotion, you can call it - SummerPromotion.
You can use whatever term you prefer.
CAUTION: Spaces can break these links in some browsers.
Please avoid using spaces in your Link Code.
Link Expires On (Optional)
If you want your link to expire on a certain date, simply choose a date from the calendar provided. When the selected date expires, the link will simply stop working.
If you're using the links as part of a promotion to bring new readers into the app, you can leave this field blank and the OTAI will never expire.
Max Installs
This setting controls the number of times your link can be used.
For example, if you have a list of 100 people you would like to send your link to and you only want them to have access to your app, you can select 100 installs.
Once 100 installs has been reached, the link will simply stop working.
If you leave this field blank, the link will have
unlimited uses.
Installs Per User
This setting controls the number of installs allowed per reader.
The purpose of this is to allow a reader to install your app on multiple devices.
For example, if you select 3 Installs per user, that means the reader can install your app on to 3 devices.
Paid Issue Access
This setting allows you to give free access to specific issues in your app.
You can manage it this way:
Single Issue - if you want to give away a single issue, simply enter the magazine issue slot number in the field provided. NOTE: the issue slot number appears below your issues in the MagCast dashboard.
Issue Series - if you want to give away a set of issues that are positioned next to each other, use a dash [-] and enter the issue list like this: 1-5.
Issue Series - if you want to give away issues that are not next to each other, simply use a comma [,] and enter the issue range like this: 1,5,10,13.
Leave Blank - if you don't want to give away any individual issues, simply leave this field blank.
Subscription Length (Required)
This setting allows you to give away a free subscription to your app. From the dropdown, simply choose what subscription period you would like your reader/s to have.
NOTE 01 - If you choose "Forever", this means the reader will have access to the latest published issue and all future issues for the lifespan of your app.
NOTE 02 - Choose "None" if you don't want to give away a free subscription.
STEP THREE
Next, simply click on Generate New Link to save your settings.
Once done processing your selections, the system will create your link and it will appear at the bottom of the settings section under the Generated links section.
Your link will appear to the far-left, to access the link simply click on the Copy Link url. Your link will be copied to your computer's clipboard and available for you to use wherever you want.
STEP FOUR
Under the
Generated Links section you will also find some
usage stats you can use to track how many people have actually used your link.
This is what they mean:
Expires = Shows the expiration date set for a specific link
Max Installs = shows the number of uses until the link stops working.
NOTE: If you see this setting [3 / Unlimited] it means that the link was set with unlimited uses.
Paid Access = shows the list of issues that will be given away free.
NOTE: If you see this setting [NULL] it means no issues will be given away free.
Sub Length = shows the subscription period selected for the link.
NOTE: If you see this setting [none] it means no subscription will be given away free.
